As of today I am on hol-ee-day and boy do I need it. I am very lucky that my workplace shuts between Christmas and New Year so I don't need to use any leave for those days. I've tagged a few days onto the beginning for good measure so I get the rest of the week off. Sam and Josie finish school tomorrow so we've got some time to make mince pies, wrap up presents and hopefully go and see The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe.
Still no camera and no reply to the customer 'help line' so who knows when I'll see it again? If I had it I could show you the completed Calmer bed socks - very plain, stocking stitch, no ribbing at the top, a small cable down each side and short row heels. The heels are the best short row ones I've done so far, no big holes in them like with my Stashbuster Spirals.
I could also show you my finished Fortissima socks (I'm wearing them as a type) which are lovely and comfy. I have allowed myself to cast on another pair which may or may not be a Christmas gift. I've decided to just knit away and see when they're done. If I only get one done I'm toying with the idea of wrapping it up, together with an IOU for the other one and giving it like that. Then I can finish the other one over Christmas and New Year and pass it on when it's done. What do you think, a good way round the stress of finishing?
I could even show you my progress on Tubey which is motoring along. I've done both sleeves and am ready to cast on and pick up stitches for the body. The only problem is I really need to do it in daylight - picking up stitches in black yarn under artificial light is not a job to be undertaken lightly. The days have been short on light and long on busyness but hopefully now that I have some time at home I will be able to make a start on it. I don't want to jinx things, but I think I'm going to like Tubey a lot. Preliminary trying on of the top half is giving me good vibes.
It's not the same without pictures really is it? Anyway, I am off to bed with this book which came from my parents this morning. An early Christmas present, at just the right time.
I haven't gotten my camera back yet, either.
I REALLY hope you go see Narnia- it is the best movie I have seen in years!!!!
Merry CHRISTmas!!
Oh-and I think wrapping one sock with an IOU is a great idea!

Lucky you - I have to work all this week up to and including Friday and then back in Wednesday:( Can't complain though as I now have 18 hours permanent as well as the sessional hours (just not had time to blog about it yet!!!).
Have been to see Narnia tonight - we all really enjoyed it - It's a great family film.
Have fun - BTW - Josie should be getting (should have got -but maybe held up in Xmas post) a parcel through the post soon. I'm sure that you've guessed already who her SPKids was:)

Don't you just love it when they break up and you get to do all the Christmasy things together. Gives me a warm glow just thinking about it. Bet they don't get up early with me tomorrow to get the last of the groceries though ;(
Your IOU is a brilliant idea and will probably give the recipient a smile or two along the way. I'm looking forward to seeing Tubey.

Nice, nice, nice book! The first edition had loads of errors, I presume these are ironed out now, if not there's corrections out there on the www.
What about a regular camera - you can have the photos put onto cd when you take it in, it's a shame to miss out on the photos.
We have our home made mince pies here, courtesy of Chris's mum, and we haven't eaten any yet!
Dawn:)
