No knitting tonight; I've been ripping instead.
My lack of progress on the Feb Fix-It has been playing on my mind over the last few days. I have a couple of projects that need some attention, but I've also been thinking about shop bought jumpers that could be ripped. Initially I was thinking about a trip to the charity shop, but then I stopped and thought about what I already had at home.
Most of the shop bought jumpers I have I wear quite a bit, so wouldn't consider ripping them. Then I remembered that I have quite a collection of pre-children jumpers knocking about.
Now, this may be hard to believe, but before I had children I was very slim. Like size 10 without even trying slim (I know, I make myself sick thinking about it). Since having children, lets just say I haven't quite been in that ball park. So there are some things around that I'm not going to be wearing again. Like this.
This is a midriff baring jumper. After 2 children and one caesarean, that's not going back on this body. It is however:
Pure New Wool; prime ripping material.
I pulled up the tutorial recommended by Alison. One episode of EastEnders later, I had this.
(The brown bits on the sofa are fluff from the jumper, not dirt).
A couple of hours later, I had this.
I still have the back to rip, then it's time to tie it up and wash it - you can see how curly it is.
Lots of fun to do and even more fun mulling over the possibilities of what to knit with it. Oh, and did I mention I had another 3 jumpers on the hand-wash cycle in the machine while I was ripping this one? Gribbit, gribbit...

Oooh, that looks like a lot of fun. And what better way to make use of Eastenders watching time. I cant wait to see what it looks like when it is all washed and ready to go. Any idea what its going to be next?

Good for you! I once attempted to frog my grandmothers astrakhan coat, back when I was a teenager. It was on a heavy backing, some sort of chenille type thick yarn, glued onto the backing in swirls. The coat mustn't have been washed for donkeys, and I was surrounded by dust and dirt.
Dawn :)

Woohoo! How exciting! Isn't it fun discovering new yarn in your closet. Enjoy dreaming up a new project for it. :)
